&lt;p&gt;I actually have answers for those, even. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED on silly bands. I suspect I would have loved them as a kid, though. I think it's because when you're wearing them, you can't tell what they are, so people are likey, oh! what shapes do you have? and you can trade. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;And the black nail polish you can blame on Chanel. A year or two ago Chanel released a black polish and it started showing up on runways. Now it's chic instead of emo.
